The router is superb in terms of hardware, but the default firmware lets it down. I replaced the built-in firmware with OpenWRT and it has been superb since.

We bought this router not long ago with the main aim to be able to use our internet connection off cable. In the beginning we had to restart the router several times a day which in itself was extremely frustrating. Within 2 weeks we were thinking of returning it. We stuck with it and nowadays it functions much better, only have to restart it every now and then, which is acceptable.

Our main concern however is traffic. We connected a terrabyte hard drive to it, with the idea to backup our bits and pieces from our computers. The router and the hard drive were left on during the day while we were at work for this purpose and when we got back home we noticed that the backup didn’t work as we expected, however there was traffic on the router practically all morning. This happened the next day too so we now don’t leave the router on without supervision. ;-)

So, after the initial hickups it functions well as a wireless router but it doesn’t function all in all as it should. If there are products out there with better promise, buy those.

This router stinks. It needs to be reset daily as your bandwidth drops regularly. A quick search online will reveal other users with similar issues.
