This dongle is an easy plug and play one which does the job of connecting your device (a Nokia phone in my case) to your computer. However, it does it in such a basic way that is off putting. It comes with no software and per each time that you need to exchange a file you have to click on the bluetooth icon on the taskbar, select upload and then go through all the other steps in the wizard’s window. Multiple files exchange is not possible, so if you have to move 20 photos or songs from/to computer and phone, you have to do it one by one. It sucks!
Opened this up, plugged it in, allowed my laptop to download and install drivers, and away i went. Installation took around 2 minutes. No instructions or software required. Was able to transfer my contacts from my pc to my phone within 5 minutes of plugging this in. It’s a deal, it’s a steal, it’s sale of the ….. century !
Only criticism i would have was that it took a week to arrive but thats just being picky.
I am using a Dell laptop running Windows 7.
This USB Bluetooth dongle appears and feels rather flimsy and it would probably be possible to break the black casing while removing it from a USB slot. However you will probably just want to insert it and forget about it, unless you have a shortage of USB slots.
It comes without an installation disc, but no software is needed as Windows XP and later automatically detect it and install the appropriate drivers.
Despite the flimsyness of the casing it works quite well. The packaging (a plastic blister pack) claims a transfer rate of 3Mb/s, which appears correct. I’m not sure of the range, but as long as you are in the same room as it you should be OK, but it’s definitely not the 100m claimed on the packaging.
If you need to synchronise a cellphone, or use it with a keyboard or mouse, this will do pefectly. I would probably not want to use it with headphones, though, although I have not tested it with them. Basically you get what you pay for.
EDIT: blister pack not plastic bag, range.
Rubbish product. When it arrived, I opened the packet and found that there was just a bluetooth adaptor but no CD or any other installation software. I plugged it anyway and my Dell laptop running Vista began to install the drivers automatically. SO far so good. Then, windows asked for the cd which I didnt have. I cancelled but mysteriously, the bluetooth icon appeared in my system tray and I managed to pair it with my phone. Whilst attempting a transfer of a picture, the adaptor just ended the connection.
Now it doesnt seem to be recognised no matter what USB port I plug it into. What a rubbish piece of hardware. I suppose that the price and that its made in China explains it.
Spend a bit more and get a better adaptor.
Meets requirements perfectly. I’m running XP and this installed itself in a few seconds with no problems
