Anyone who has built a website and who has put time, effort, and money into nurturing its growth will probably have at some time given some thought to how well that site ranks in the major search engines. Website owners can count sales or use free tools like Google Analytics or Google Webmaster Tools but none of these methods measure how well a site ranks in a league table of competitors and other sites that are targetted at the same audience.
